Dear Newly Diagnosed

I see you. I hear you.

I AM you.

I know you’re scared.

It’s so hard facing unknown and uncertainty, especially with very little control over the outcomes.

I know you feel alone. I promise you, you’re not.

This is the worst club to have to join but the best members are waiting to embrace and support you.

Whether you want to share or not, your story matters. Your experience matters.

You matter.

Focus on what matters to you.

We spend too much time worrying about society’s expectations and we can’t take them with us anyway.

Take the trip. The memories will last longer than any of us.

Find your purpose.

Do what you love.

Find your people.

Say no to things that don’t light you up.

Bake cookies.

Dance in your living room.

Hug all the animals.

Jump out of a plane.

Ask for help. They want to help. Trust me!

LIVE!

Because that’s what we are here to do and the amount of time and quality of it is promised to noone.
