Photo Diary: Fawn-Doe-Rosa

If you’ve ever read the bio on my contact page or any of my social media pages, it should come as no surprise to you that I love animals. When I say I love them, I mean I LOVE them. I also believe you are never too old to enjoy a day at the zoo. So when my mom told me I was too old for Fawn-Doe-Rosa, my response was “Who cares if it’s for ‘little’ kids?!” I dragged her along and I’m pretty sure she ended up being even more excited than me!

Fawn-Doe-Rosa is an educational wildlife park in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, just across the river from Taylors Falls, Minnesota. A family owned and operated business, many of the animals have been raised by them from birth. Their mission is to share their passion to help educate others about animals. They work closely with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), conservation departments and rehabilitators to not only care for the animals but provide awareness of animal conservation to others.

In an effort to give visitors a hands-on, up close experience, there are multiple ways to connect with the animals at the wooded park and petting area. Because many of the animals are free roaming, you never know where you might get to pet a deer, feed an alpaca or rescue your purse from a hungry goat!

Deer Yard

The Deer Yard features a wooded trail along which you’ll encounter deer, elk, geese, wolves…family friendly animals are loose in the wooded park where you can interact with them in their natural habitat.

Petting Area

The Petting Area is a small section near the front of the wildlife park where you can see animal babies and pet small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs. Park staff are available in this area to answer questions and help you handle the animals!

Farm Yard

The Farm Yard is home to many animals just waiting to eat out of your hand! This area is full of different animal personalities competing to get your attention…and your snacks.

I’ve been to many animal parks and petting zoos and Fawn-Doe-Rosa was easily one of my favorites. It’s perfect for families with little kids or ‘big kids’ (like me!) who want to fulfill childhood dreams of petting their favorite wildlife animals!
